Islamabad: Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan is being celebrated all over Pakistan today. It is to honour and remember the people who gave their lives to protect their country and its people.
The main event took place at the GHQ in Rawalpindi, and General Asim Munir was the top guest. During the event, people paid rich tributes to the martyrs. Famous people laid flowers at the monument to the martyrs.
Moreover, Former army chief Gen. (Ret.) Qamar Javed Bajwa, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen. (Ret.) Nadeem Raza, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, and other members of the society were among those who attended the event.
While, Aside from this, there have been many events all over the country with Quran readings and prayers. There will also be a number of memorial services at the sites of the victims.
COAS Asim Munir said on Monday that May 25 will be known as “Pakistan Martyrs’ Day.” He also said that the attacks on May 9 on army sites, monuments, and memorials to martyrs were intolerable.
During an award ceremony at the GHQ Rawalpindi, he said, “Every soldier and officer of the armed forces put his duty and responsibilities first, regardless of regional, linguistic, or political biases and differences.”
“A strong army is the only way to make sure a country is safe and united,” he said.
