LAHORE: On Monday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) told Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi to talk to the right people about his arrest.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi of the LHC said in response to a petition against Elahi’s arrest order, “You should file an appeal with the district commissioner. He will hear your case and make a decision based on it.”

Elahi’s lawyer said that, based on past cases, the court could overturn the order. But Justice Najafi told him that he could go to court to challenge the decision of the relevant officials.

Then, the head of the PTI’s lawyers took the plea back.

The Punjab government said on Sunday that the former chief minister of the province should held for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Act of 1960.

Elahi then went to court and asked for the order to thrown out.

In a plea to the LHC on Monday, Elahi’s lawyer, Amir Saeed, said that his arrest order against the court’s decision to let him go.

“…[I have] no other good way to solve this problem under the law except to use the constitutional jurisdiction of this Honourable Court,” the plea said.

Moreover, Elahi asked the court to take his case and say that the government’s arrest order was “illegal, void, against the law, and has no legal effect.”

He also asked the court to tell the caretaker Punjab government, the home secretary, and the Punjab inspector-general of prisons to take action against SP prisons for district bars.
