Karachi: After a brief rainstorm on Friday afternoon, Karachi’s weather improved.

Dark clouds covered the city, hiding direct sunlight. Clouds persisted until nightfall.

North Nazimabad residents filmed a stunning glimpse of water-filled clouds spiralling over the city before the rain.

The footage showed clouds forming a spiral, which meteorology expert Jawad Memon called “hook formation”.

Memon told Geo News that clouds form “hooks” when moving in different directions.

On Friday, North Nazimabad received 41.6 mm of rain, flooding roads.

Moreover, Rainwater flooded major city thoroughfares, disrupting traffic.

As Arabian Sea clouds moved in, weather scientists predicted sporadic rain for the port city on July 23.

Sindh would continue to experience monsoon currents, according to the Met Department.

The Met Office predicts partly cloudy, humid weather in the port city with thunderstorms and rain throughout the evening and night.

The PMD predicted dust, thunderstorms, and light rain in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu, and Jamshoro due to the monsoon.

It stated that isolated heavy falls in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Naushahro Feroz, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal districts and Karachi division through July 24 and 25 with occasional breaks.

The weather forecaster cautioned that wind and dust storms could harm unsecured buildings including utility poles, solar panels, and trees.

Heavy rains could cause waterlogging in low-lying portions of Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu, and Jamshoro districts.
