Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a five-member PML-N committee. It is to advise on the selection of a caretaker premier and dissolution of the National Assembly.

The panel has no members from Sindh or Balochistan, which will also be disbanded next month.

Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Khawaja Muhammad Asif will consult with the government’s political parties and groupings.

Moreover, The committee’s creation has accelerated the consultation process for the country’s future administration.

While, The group would report to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and party president PM Shehbaz Sharif on sensitive issues.

The committee begins immediately. The move may have relieved the premier of pressure to dissolve assemblies and appoint a caretaker prime minister.

Moreover, PM Shehbaz recommended other parties to organise such committees for comprehensive consultations.

One of the ruling alliance’s key parties was reportedly demanding a caretaker PM.

While, Constitutionally, the PM, as Leader of the House, and the National Assembly Leader of the Opposition were to begin consultations. If they fail, the NA speaker may form a parliamentary committee.

If the parliamentary committee fails, the Election Commission of Pakistan will choose the caretaker PM.

The government has ignored political parties and groups outside parliament. The other day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi requested that his party be included in the impending elections and related arrangements as a key stakeholder, but the government dismissed his request.

On August 1, National Assembly Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz Ahmad scheduled to meet with the premier to discuss the caretaker PM.

He left Islamabad for Faisalabad on Friday and returned on Monday, consulting with lower house colleagues to form a committee.
