PCB reinstates Sarfraz Nawaz’s pension after six years

Lahore: After years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reinstated ex-fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz’s pension on Monday.

The head of the Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, met Nawaz to resolve his overdue ex gratia payments since January 2017.

Former captains Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez attended the friendly encounter at National Cricket Academy.

While, The statement said Ashraf gave Nawaz a cheque for Players’ Welfare Policy payments and pledged his support.

While, The former management’s disciplinary procedures against Nawaz for violating the Players’ Welfare Policy Code of Conduct. Resulting in ended the ex gratia payments.

Moreover, The Players’ Welfare Policy ex gratia payments to Nawaz would restart after he guaranteed the PCB of his Code of Conduct compliance.

“Upset to see a former Test cricketer in such a condition and its disturbing to see Mr Sarfraz Nawaz deprived of his rightful pension,” Ashraf remarked. Moreover, It’s regrettable that prior administrations utilised PCB funds to settle personal scores.

“No cricketer should have to go through what Mr. Sarfraz Nawaz had to face, and I want to tell every past and current player, international or domestic, that the PCB considers them its asset and will look after them at every stage of their life and in every possible way. They deserve cricket board love and respect.”

While, Nawaz claimed he visited the National Cricket Academy after almost six years. Warmly welcomed by PCB authorities.

“Zaka Ashraf’s pension reinstatement pleases me. This very helpful given my health.

“I donate my time to the board to improve fast bowlers’ skills for cricket.”

Right-arm fast bowler took 177 Test wickets at 32.75 and 63 ODI wickets at 23.22. First-class wickets: 1,005 at 24.62.
