Webdesk: Media sources say 28-year-old former Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins died in a motorbike crash in South Florida on Sunday night.
Fans loved Collins, a 2016 fifth-round Seahawks choice, for his Irish dancing and touchdown celebrations.
Sunday night’s Suzuki motorcycle-Chevrolet SUV crash killed Collins.
The Chevrolet driver turned left to head south on Northwest 33rd Avenue. Motorcycle hit SUV’s rear passenger side as automobile crossed eastward lanes. The motorcycle crashed through the Chevrolet’s rear passenger window and died inside. Investigators said the Chevrolet rotated clockwise before stopping.
“Absolutely heartbroken,” the Seahawks tweeted. Collins family prayers.”
The Seahawks released a statement from Collins’ family: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Alex Collins this morning. His family, friends, and global supporters loved Alex.”
Funeral arrangements were promised later.

As the news broke Monday afternoon, Collins’ old Seattle teammates reacted on social media.

Kelli Masters, Collins’ agent, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “As many of you have now heard, Alex Collins passed away this morning. I’m heartbroken and lost. Many loved Alex. Your happiness, positivity, and wide smile touched everyone. I felt honoured to represent you.”
Seahawks general manager John Schneider stated, “Alex’s infectious smile and classic river dance skills will forever be missed. Our block liked Alex. He played football and enjoyed life.
Collins played 11 games with the Seahawks as a rookie in 2016 and had 125 rushing yards before being waived at the 53-man roster cutoff. The Seattle Times stated Collins spent two seasons with Ravens.
Collins was a juggernaut at Arkansas and had his best NFL season with the Ravens in 2017 with 973 yards.
Collins returned to the Seahawks in 2020 and played three games before playing 11 more in 2021 after sitting out 2019.
Moreover, In March 2019, the Ravens waived Collins after an early morning car accident in Owings Mills, Maryland. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors—possession of a firearm and marijuana—and received probation and a $200 fine. Charges were dropped after three years.
