Islamabad: Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad gave Ali Wazir, head of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), and Imaan Mazari, a human rights lawyer, a three-day physical remand on Monday. They taken into police custody.

In a case about treason, intimidating, and inciting people, the government wanted to keep the suspects in jail for 10 days.

The cases against them filed after they gave a speech at a recent PTM gathering in the federal capital that caused a lot of trouble.

The Islamabad police then arrested Imaan and Wazir in the early morning hours of Sunday and got a court in Islamabad to keep them in custody that same day.

Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain’s anti-terrorism court in the federal capital, which called the federal capital, brought them out today.

Imaan goes on hunger strike

She hugged her mother Shireen Mazari when they got to the Islamabad Judicial Complex, while Wazir brought to the court with his face hidden.

Imaan told her mother, “I’m on a hunger strike”. She also said that no one had asked her any questions during the probe.

During the meeting, Imaan’s lawyer told the judge that she had sent back to police custody for a day.

The lawyer said, “The police haven’t found anything yet.”

He said that the lawyer for human rights was not a threat to get away.

“She is here,” argued the lawyer. He also said that the cops had taken Imaan’s cell phone and laptop.

“The question why Imaan Mazari hasn’t charged with anything yet. Why hasn’t a sound matching or photogrammatic test done yet?”

The lawyer said that Imaan Mazari’s speech is on social media, and that his laptop and phone are also with the cops.

“Imaan Mazari charged with two similar crimes. “Her speech said to have helped anti-national groups,” the lawyer said.

“What good will it do to keep Imaan Mazari in jail? Imaan Mazari doesn’t have to stay in police care. More than 900 people named as suspects along with Imaan.”

He said, “They want to call Imaan Mazari a terrorist, but the police forget that they also have mothers and sisters at home.”

Also, Imaan’s lawyers asked the ATC for permission to meet with her because she had passed out yesterday and they couldn’t meet her at the police station.

“Nothing was wrong.”

When Wazir got up on the podium, he said, “We want to tell Islamabad our message. At the gathering, nothing bad said.”

Wazir, who used to a member of the National Assembly, called the judge “Mr. Speaker” at one point.

At the end of the meeting, he said he would think about the prosecution’s request for a 10-day remand and then said that both Wazir and Imaan would taken into police custody for three days.

“Life at risk”

Shireen Mazari, Imaan’s mother and a former minister for human rights, told reporters after the hearing that Imaan passed out while she taken away by cops in a van.

“Even though she was unconscious, she couldn’t go to the doctor,” Mazari said.

She also said that Imaan hadn’t eaten because he was upset.

“The enemy wants something bad to happen to my daughter,” Mazari said.

She added that Imaan is a lawyer for people’s rights and that her life is in danger in jail.

She told the judge that Imaan would show up for court dates and that, since the court cared about human rights, it should let Imaan go.
