Pakistan Decides to Send High-Level Delegation for Trade Talks with the U.S. Over New Tariffs

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to send a high-level delegation to the United States to discuss strengthening trade relations and negotiating new tariffs. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that prominent business figures and exporters be included in the delegation.

The delegation’s task is to engage in talks regarding the new tariffs imposed by the U.S. and devise a mutually beneficial plan for the future after the negotiations.

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held in Islamabad to review the impact of the new U.S. tariffs on Pakistan’s exports. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers, Prime Minister’s Advisor Syed Tauseer Shah, Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi, Haroon Akhtar, and other senior officials.

The meeting received a briefing on the new tariffs imposed by the U.S., as well as reports from the steering committee and working group. Future course of action was also discussed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s trade ties with the U.S. have a long history and the government is keen on further strengthening this partnership.
