Warrant Issued for Tulip Siddiq by Bangladeshi Court Amid Corruption Allegations

Dhaka:
Legal troubles have intensified for former UK minister and niece of Bangladesh’s ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tulip Siddiq, as a Bangladeshi court has issued an arrest warrant against her.

According to British media, the allegations involve acquiring a plot in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone and misappropriation of £4 billion in a nuclear deal during her aunt’s administration.

Tulip, currently serving as a UK MP, resigned from her ministerial post in January 2025 after these allegations surfaced. She has categorically denied the charges, calling them politically motivated and baseless.

Her legal team maintains that Tulip Siddiq neither acquired property in Bangladesh nor used her position for personal benefit. They argue the case is politically driven and lacks evidence.
