In a shocking revelation, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz disclosed in an interview that Israel had drawn up a plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the operation was never executed due to a lack of “operational opportunity.”
Speaking to Israeli media, Katz claimed that Khamenei went into hiding after sensing an imminent threat and cut off communication with senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
He further warned that if Iran resumes its nuclear program, Israel may launch another military strike, and this time, it already has a green light from the United States. However, according to Katz, Iran does not currently appear to have the capacity to fully restart its nuclear installations.
This disclosure comes at a tense moment when, despite a recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, the geopolitical atmosphere remains volatile. Backed by U.S. support, Israel continues to monitor Iran’s nuclear activity closely.
