Islamabad- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced that the schedule for the remaining 27 seats of the National Assembly will be revealed next week. The by-elections for these seats, which were vacated by members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are set to take place in the last week of March. The ECP is also making preparations for the general elections in October or November this year.

A high-level meeting will be held on February 7th and will be attended by the chief secretaries and police IGs of Punjab and KPK. During the meeting, the officials will provide a briefing on the elections of the provincial assemblies, by-elections for the National Assembly, and the law and order situation in their respective regions. Another meeting will be held on February 9th and will include all stakeholders and political parties, including PTI and PMLQ, to discuss all aspects of peaceful elections, code of ethics, and other legal and constitutional issues.

Omar Hameed Khan, Secretary ECP, informed the commission that the registrars of Lahore and Peshawar High Courts have been requested to provide judicial officers for the upcoming elections. The by-elections for 31 National Assembly constituencies will take place on March 19, while the elections for 33 seats are scheduled for March 16.
