Peshawar: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party has launched a court arrest drive called ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ from Lahore. The leader and workers from Peshawar region are going to present themselves for court arrest today. The PTI Peshawar region president, Mohammad Atif Khan, asked all the leaders and workers to reach Gul Bahar police station. The PTI workers will proceed towards Hashtnagri Chowk where they will present themselves for the arrest. PTI provincial president Pervez Khattak, former governor Shah Farman, former speaker of the NA Asad Qaiser will present themselves for arrest. Mohammad Atif Khan Ishtiaq Urmer, former MPAs Haji Faz Illahi, Arbab Waseem, and Malak Wajid are among the leaders who will also present themselves for the arrest.
Atif Khan urged workers not to be afraid of the threats of the incumbent government about the court arrest drive. He added that it was the constitutional responsibility of the government to conduct elections within 90 days of dissolution of the assemblies. He said that the workers of PTI did not fear being arrested. PTI also set up a camp in Namak Mandi area where workers of the party enrolled their names for court arrest. Beside others, Mohammad Atif Khan, Peshawar district president Ishtiaq Urmer and former naib nazim of Peshawar district council Qasim Ali Shah were also present.
Parvez Khattak bashes Govt
Moreover, PTI provincial president Pervez Khattak said that the government failed to deliver, and urged people to take to streets against the government in large numbers. He said that the court arrest drive was a peaceful and excellent way of protest to get their constitutional rights. Mr Khattak said that PTI chief Imran Khan launched the court arrest drive for the supremacy of Constitution and law in the country. Several police officials confirmed that they had not received any instruction about the arrest of the PTI leaders and workers.
