ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Wednesday that the investigation agencies were investigating former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid and will report their findings.

He announced it in a press conference held in Islamabad after imposing Section 144 in Lahore ahead of Arat March and the PTI election rally.

Sanaullah stated that only the General Headquarters (GHQ) may conduct Faiz’s court martial.

We will arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan if necessary, said Sanaullah

The minister also asked Jamat-e-Islami (JI) to hold Haya March on March 7 or 9 instead of March 8, when there are multiple activities, including the International Women’s Day Aurat March.

“Aurat March is taking place on March 8, our moms and sisters are marching in it,” he added, adding that women value the day.

He said the women protest to emphasise two narratives.

Section 144 imposed in Lahore

The interior minister claimed the administration applied Section 144 due to security agency reports.

We asked them to provide their rally route but they didn’t, Said Interior Minister

Khan practises fitna, anarchy, and disorder. “No one has halted the LEAs,” he added.

The minister said Lahore was hosting multiple events, including Aurat March and Haya March.

Sanaullah mocked the PTI head by saying, “Imrani fitna announced the burger march” and choosing the same election rally location as the Aurat March organisers.

“Fitna Khan deemed it fit to showcase his own fitna in between” all these events.

Sanaullah added that since everything was done in one place, anything may happen.

“On one hand, [Khan’s] leg has a plaster on for five months and he can’t move owing to 72 years of age,” he said, challenging Khan to come in court if he has recovered from his bullet wounds from last year’s Wazirabad assassination attempt.

He stated the deposed prime minister was obtaining respite instead of answering the courts.

Sanaullah added that Khan’s “relief” came instead of judicial responses.

Khan’s relief will raise issues. “Judiciary’s impartiality will suffer,” he continued.

Sanaullah slammed Khan, saying he wanted Madina yet was working against it.

He stated Khan’s excuses prevented him from appearing in court.

The minister added, “You [Khan] don’t even have the defence in three of the instances [against him].

Sanaullah asked the courts to deny Khan further relief if he misses the March 13 hearings.
