LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan showed willingness to talk to establishment.

Imran told BBC Urdu that he is “ready to talk to anyone” to organise elections in the country.

Party leadership suggested me, talk to the establishment if they want to,
“I am a politician and will talk to everyone… except thieves,” Imran stated.

A party supported by the nation does not need crutches.”

He added that the president and Supreme Court ordered elections in 90 days. But, during a PTI election rally, police deployed a water cannon, smashed vehicles, and arrested individuals.

The dismissed premier urged the caretaker administration should hold elections. he asked.

A police crackdown on a Lahore election protest near Zaman Park on Wednesday arrested and injured dozens of PTI supporters and killed one.

Police dispersed the gathering by baton charge, gunfire, and a water cannon, with PTI supporters throwing stones at the police. This clash harmed numerous cops.

The PTI head warned his members not to participate in violence “so that the government does not get a chance to run away from the election.”

“If we wanted, the fight would have gone till night, but we do not want to give them an opportunity to get out of the elections by creating chaos,” he stated.

‘Govt doesn’t want elections’

“It seems like the government does not want to hold the election,” Imran stated of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECPSupreme )’s Court-ordered election dates.

“Excuses for not holding elections continue. They might assassinate Benazir Bhutto. He indicated they were trying to avoid the election.

. He said that without elections, the constitution and law would be obliterated.

“The administration wants me to be disqualified or go to jail so it can win this election,” he added.

Parvez Elahi, PTI No. 2

Imran stated Pervaiz Elahi is PTI’s vice-chairman and second-in-command. “Pervaiz Elahi endured the establishment pressure and stayed with us in difficult times, thats why we granted him this position,” he stated.

Elections frighten government

Imran told Al-Jazeera yesterday that the coalition government is “petrified” of losing the elections and wants to arrest and disqualify him.

“The administration and its sponsors are scared of elections because my party has won 30 of the 37 by-elections in the last eight months,” he stated.

“They want to either arrest or disqualify me because they are terrified that my party is one of the most popular in Pakistan’s history,” the PTI head said.

“Police had granted authorization and approved the rally route, but suddenly this [Wednesday] morning they revoked it. The ousted premier said a large police force was deployed and peaceful rallygoers were attacked with tear gas and water cannon.

Life Threats

Imran informed Al-Jazeera that he is in danger after his assassination attempt. He questioned how he could campaign and attend judicial hearings when individuals who tried to assassinate him are in power.

Since the assassins are in power, my life is in danger. Can I campaign safely? How do I visit courts?

“Do you handle 76 cases—how many court appearances do you make?” Imran stated that his assassination attempt injuries prevented him from appearing in court.
