Islamabad: Faisal Karim Kundi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, announced on Sunday that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries would receive a 25% increase in quarterly instalments beginning in March as part of the government’s efforts to provide relief to the masses of the country.

BISP is providing assistance to 8.9 million individuals across the country, The SAPM stated at a news conference. Raising the number of quarterly installments in consideration of the suffering of Pakistani citizens due to the current inflation was a part of initial plan.

He asserted that the government was also giving BISP recipients with subsidies. This subsidy was on necessary food goods through the Utilities Stores Corporation. This was an effort to provide maximum relief to the most vulnerable members of society.

“We started a Dynamic Registry survey in all areas of the nation, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, said SAPM. He said that this step is in order to discover and register more worthy individuals living below the poverty line.
