Iran has arrested over 100 people for the mysterious poisonings of thousands of schoolgirls. Iran alleged that there is a possibility that suspects are in connection with “hostile” groups.
Since late November, schoolgirls have fainted, nauseated, and had trouble breathing after reporting “unpleasant” odours on school grounds. Some are getting treatment at hospitals.
State media stated late Saturday that the interior ministry has arrested suspects in more than 200 school poison attacks, which have frightened and angered students and parents.
“Those arrested are hostile and want to spread terror in the population and pupils and close schools.”
“Fortunately, from the middle of last week until today, the number of incidences in schools has fallen dramatically, and there have been no reports of sick students,” the ministry said.
Iran blames those “riots” on hostile forces from its archrivals the US, Israel, and their supporters.
The latest official count shows over 5,000 students at 230 schools in 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces.
The ministry reported arrests in Tehran, Qom, Gilan, Razavi Khorasan, West and East Azerbaijan, Zanjan, Kurdistan, Hamadan, Khuzestan, and Fars.
Last Monday, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stressed “unforgivable crime” culprits be found “without mercy”.
