Ahmadabad: Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli’s wife, said on Sunday that her husband was sick when he hit 186 against Australia. This was Kohli’s first successful Test century in more than three years.
On day four of Test against Australia, India’s first innings reply was boosted by Kohli’s first hit after long time.
Kohli was finally out when off-spinner Todd Murphy got him in the last session. He had been batting for 364 balls in front of a cheering crowd at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
Anushka wrote in an Instagram story after the cricket star got his 75th international century. “Playing so well even though she was sick. Always make me feel good.” she wrote.
Axar Patel, who batted with Kohli during India’s 571-all-out score in response to Australia’s 480, said Kohli didn’t look sick.
“The way he ran between the wickets didn’t make me think so,” Axar responded.
“It was fun to bat with him because of how he got the partnership and ran between the wickets when it was hot.”
The maestro, who has been called “King Kohli” because he scores so many runs, got his 28th Test century with a single off spinner Nathan Lyon in the second session, which brought the house down in Ahmedabad.
In 2021 and 2022, Kohli had a long slump at the plate. During that time, he lost the Indian captaincy, which is one of the most stressful jobs in sports.
Kohli, who is 34 years old, had talked about how he was “snappy” with Sharma, with whom he has a young daughter, during his “dry phase.”
