Lahore: Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the “bundle package of bail” given to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan showed that he was above the law and the judicial system.
She tweeted that the “terrorist” who attacked police, the court system got a bundle package of bail.”.
The minister said it was a message to those who were attacked and hurt while doing their jobs. “The foreign agent, Toshakhana watch thief” was above the law and the justice system.
She said that “terrorist Imran” hadn’t thrown petrol bombs at police and rangers, but at court orders.
Yesterday the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him protective bail in nine cases. This was a big relief for Khan, who is the leader of the PTI.
Earlier in the day, the head of the PTI went to the LHC to ask for bail in these cases.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Farooq Haider, who made up a two-person bench, heard bail requests for cases filed under terrorism sections.
Khan was given bail for the five cases in Islamabad until March 24. For the three cases in Lahore, he was given bail for 10 days (March 27).
Justice Sheikh also heard the former prime minister’s requests for bail in the civil cases that had been filed against him. He granted the PTI chairman’s protective bail until March 27.
The high court has also given police permission to go to Zaman Park, where he lives in Lahore, to look into what happened on March 14 and 15, when clashes left many people hurt.
The court also ended PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry’s case against the operation at Zaman Park and told the party to make sure it works with the authorities.
