Webdesk: Popular stand-up comedian Shakeel Siddiqui appeared on the Hafiz Ahmed Podcast recently. In the webisode, the witty veteran said he doesn’t think Pakistan can make a show like The Kapil Sharma Show.
After competing in Comedy Circus, Pakistani comedian Siddiqui became famous in Bollywood. The comedian has gained fame working with Urvashi Dholakia, Salman Khan, and Johnny Lever.
While, The host asked Siddiqui about Pakistani stand-up comedy. “The Kapil Sharma Show is quite a popular show in India, why do we not have such shows here?” he asked.
“To make a show like Kapil Sharma, you would have to find a Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan or Katrina Kaif here,” the Comedy King star replied. Our artists refuse to perform during interviews. Indian actors always perform on shows they are invited to and follow scripts.
“We would also need a budget and lots of financial investment, even though I always say Pakistan is always ahead of India in humour,” he added. Our audiences are hilarious and can make jokes about anything. Inflation has only made people laugh. Instead, India scripts comedy. Kapil Sharma’s show has 12-14 writers who work on specific aspects. Pakistanis work like slaves, so that’s impossible here.”
Moreover, Siddiqui concluded that Pakistanis are overburdened. “Pakistan is already suffering from many issues, it’s enough for the people to just deal with them for now,” he said.
