Islamabad: Lawyer Hassan Khan Niazi arrested under Section 3 of the MPO by the Quetta police late on Saturday night.
He caught for hitting police officers and causing mayhem in G-11, Islamabad, near the Judicial Complex.
The Balochistan police squad arrested Niazi outside the Islamabad Court Complex and transported him to Quetta. He detained under 3MPO just hours after a court magistrate in Quetta granted him bail against a Rs100,000 surety bond. In response to a bail petition filed by the PTI’s legal forum.
Niazi not released and instead taken to the Saddar police station, despite the presence of PTI lawyer forum representatives outside the jail. The Lahore police have meantime requested his custody.
Inspector Abdullah filed a complaint with the Quetta Airport police station on March 18. Charging Niazi with inciting violence and interfering with police matters.
According to the complaint, while on patrol, the subinspector learned that 150 individuals, including Inayatullah Kakar and others, had blocked Chaman Road in Quetta. The activists stopped the route for one hour despite the police’s efforts to disperse them.
Note that Niazi not identified by the Quetta police in the FIR.
Niazi’s detention is part of an ongoing crackdown on PTI members who, according to the police, assaulted law enforcement officers in Islamabad while they were executing their duties.
