Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo established the wheat support price at the same amount as other provinces.

Wheat assistance is now Rs4,000 per 40 kg. “This initiative encourages and financially supports farmers in the province to increase wheat production,” stated a statement.

The food department received Rs6 billion for wheat purchases this fiscal year. Food would receive Rs2 billion from the provincial finance department.

The provincial government gave farmers Rs2 billion worth of wheat seeds last year. The food department has prepared to buy wheat on schedule, the statement said.

Four deputy project directors and 23 centre managers will supervise 23 facilities in four zones that will buy wheat.

From April 1 to wheat procurement, Section 144 will be enforced.

Sindh and Punjab had set their own wheat support prices, which worried the federal government.

Moreover, On February 9, Sindh set the wheat crop 2023 support/procurement price at Rs4,000 per 40 kg. On February 25, the Punjab government set wheat procurement prices at Rs3,900 per 40 kg.

While, The federal cabinet approved Rs4,000 per 40 kg wheat after considering the two prices.

Moreover, Sources stated the federal government concerned about the varied wheat prices and set a standard price to ease Passco’s wheat procurement in the two provinces.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the government recently examined the issue and concluded that wheat should be purchased at a consistent price.
