Webdesk: Pakistan kicked out of the Paris Olympics 2024 after giving up two own goals that helped Hong Kong beat them easily on Saturday in Tajikistan in a Group E match.
In the first half of the Women’s Olympic Football Qualifiers for Paris 2024, neither team scored a goal, even though they both had good defences and plans.
But the second half also went without a goal until Nisha Ashraf scored an own goal when she tried to stop the ball in the 73rd minute.
She jumped high to catch the ball, but she fell inside the goalpost and let the referee call it for Hong Kong.
Soon after, another own goal put Hong Kong ahead by a score of 2-0.
Pakistan is now out of the race for the Paris Olympics 2024. They lost two games in a row and without their regular striker Nadia Khan and captain Maria Khan. In their last game, on April 11, they will play at home against Tajikistan.
In the past, Pakistan’s first game was against the Philippines, and they lost. The other team beat Pakistan by a score of 4-0.
Pakistan was having a hard time getting into the game while the winning team looked like they had everything under control.
During the first half, Pakistan gave up three goals quickly. Hali Long, Sarina Bolden, and Eva Madarang each scored one.
Even though they were already down 3-0 after 29 minutes, Pakistan made it to halftime without giving up another goal.
In the second half, the Philippines could only score one goal. Chandler McDaniel scored for the Philippines in the 85th minute.
