Webdesk: Luka Modric, who injured his thigh last week, may return sooner than expected, according to Sport Klub.
Sport Klub claims Modric visited a specialist in Belgrade, Serbia. The midfielder expected to recover faster after the specialist treated his muscle injury.
On Friday, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said Modric may miss the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna on May 6.
Ancelotti told reporters before Madrid’s LaLiga match against Almeria on Saturday, “He hurt in the game against Girona and can’t play.”
“It depends on how things go, and we don’t know if he’ll be ready for the Copa game. “It hurts us, and we hope he gets better quickly so he can play in the important games,” Real Madrid’s manager said.
Modric, 37, was substituted after an hour in Real’s 4-2 loss to Girona on Tuesday.
Los Blancos seek their twentieth Copa del Rey title.
Ancelotti updated Vinicius Jr.’s knee injury from Saturday’s La Liga match against Almeria.
Vinicius was substituted in the 82nd minute of the game, which Madrid won 4-2 thanks to a hat trick by Karim Benzema. Ancelotti hopes he will recover soon.
Vinicius’ yellow card against Almeria prevents him from playing against Real Sociedad. His second season suspension.
“He got hit in the knee, but it’s nothing,” said Madrid’s manager. He’ll recover in a few days. He’ll be fine for the Cup final but out for the next game.”
“It’s surprising that he has 10 yellow cards, because even the worst midfielder in La Liga doesn’t have that many,” Ancelotti said.
“He needs to get better in some ways, but I think they have given him too many yellow cards and not enough red cards for the kicks he’s gotten.”
Vinicius has assisted 84 Real Madrid goals since 2021-22.
