LONDON: British-Pakistani motorsports racing driver Enaam Ahmed impressed in the second qualifying session of the highly competitive Indy NXT series in an 8-minute session to start late Sunday’s 35-lap race from the fifth row.
On Friday, a technical issue limited Enaam to 9 laps.
“The team and I are new to the series and learning from each other,” Enaam said.
“He did a really good job,” Dominick Cape owner said of Enaam. We changed a lot over the weekend. The car was slow but balanced, he thought. That needs work. Enaam rocks.”
Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, hosts the current race series.
I finished third in the USPro2000 championship at this track last year, Enaam told this reporter.
“We are very happy with the progress we are making against teams with much more experience,” Enaam exclaimed. Grand Prix is all-or-nothing. I plan to score many points from the clean side of the track. My Pakistani and international desi fans are amazing. Race day, I’ll make them proud.”
Enaam is also Pakistan’s first British Formula 3 Champion. Emaan won 13 races in one season to break Ayrton Senna’s record.
The 23-year-old’s winning streaks on dangerous tracks have taken him around the world, driving cars at 200 mph with British and Pakistani flags. Enaam is a rising motorsport star.
He is the most successful Pakistani heritage racing driver in motorsport history.
23-year-old Enaam is Pakistani. He started racing at eight. His parents started funding his passion by sending him to local go-karting tracks for kids, but they had no idea that he would become a European and world champion at 14—one year younger than Lewis Hamilton, who was 15.
