Gujrat: Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s house, a former Punjab chief minister and president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), raided by police late Monday night, almost two days after they raided his Lahore home.

The Gujrat police briefly searched Kunjah House, the former CM’s residence, but the anti-corruption department, which involved in the Lahore raid, denied involvement.

Anti-corruption and police officials used an armoured vehicle to break open the PTI president’s Gulberg home’s main gate and arrest 12 people, mostly his employees, on Friday night.

The police action comes hours before PTI-Pakistan Democratic Movement election talks. If arrests and raids continued, the opposition warned that negotiations could fail.

Moonis Elahi, the former CM’s son, claimed that he let the police into the premises without a search warrant.

Moonis told the media the Punjab Police had searched his father’s home before.

Sources said six to seven police stations cordoned off the area before the raid.

Police entered the house by jumping over the walls. They entered the house after their repeated door knocks went unanswered.

The authorities have not explained the raid or revealed any evidence found at the residence. Police reported that the person they sought was not at the residence.

The police briefly interrogated three house employees during the search.

Police searched Kunjah House and ended the siege. The police searched all the house’s rooms and repeatedly asked about Elahi, who was absent.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab denounced the raid as a police operation.

After searching Kunjah House, the police went to Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain’s house, but they didn’t arrest anyone.

The household staff was questioned about Elahi during the search, police said.
