Webdesk: As King Charles is being crowned, Prince William thinks fondly of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
In an emotional speech, the Prince of Wales says that the late monarch is a “proud mother” because the King is carrying on her work.
“As my grandmother said when she was crowned, coronations are a declaration of our hopes for the future,” he said.
“And I know she’s up there, watching over us with love. She would make her mother very proud.”
William then talked about how important’service’ is in the Royal Family.
“The first thing my father said when he walked into Westminster Abbey yesterday was a promise to serve.
“It was a promise to stay in service.
“Because for more than 50 years, in every part of the UK, the Commonwealth, and the rest of the world, he has worked hard to help others, both those living now and those who’s memories should not be forgotten.
He said, “Pa, we are all so proud of you.”
“Your service gives us all hope, and tonight we also want to honour you for it,” he said.
“I promise to do my best to help you all.”
