Grimes talked about the culture of cancelling and how she was often cancelled.
The Canadian singer told Julia Fox on the Forbidden Fruits show, “I’m very easy to cancel, and I cancel a lot.”
“I’ve always cancelled in a big way. People call me a ‘techno-fascist’… Elon Musk’s ex-wife said, “I agree that a lot of things have been handled badly. We’re in this huge hiccup into a different part of civilization that has never happened before.”
She also said, “I say a lot of stupid things—more than average, I’d say—and I think we need a better conversation.” I wish people would come to me with better intentions. I come to everyone with good intentions, and if people are mean on the internet, it’s because they want a better world.
The 35-year-old also said, “I’m pretty for it,” and added. “I say I’m pretty optimistic. I think there are some bad outcomes that could happen, but I don’t think it’s helpful to talk about that in public.”
“Right now, I think it’s kind of morally important to show AI in a more good light, since it’s learning from the data. It will reflect how we see it now in many ways, and this is a common worry,” she said.
