Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest led to violent protests all over the country from May 10 to 12. As a result, the exams that supposed to take place from May 10 to 12, moved to new dates.

The Punjab Higher Education Department (PHED) said that the exams, run by nine different boards all over the province, will now held from May 17 to 19.

The PHED said that the exams for Quran translation and ethics would be on May 17. The exams for chemistry and general science would be on May 18, and the exams for Islamiat—religious education and Islamiat—Dars-e-Nizami would be on May 19.

The PHED said that new roll number slips for the rescheduled tests would posted on the website of each board. Students could also take the exams with their old roll number slips.

The officials told the students to go to the test sites they had already chosen on the new dates.

After PTI Chairman Khan arrested on May 9, violent protests broke out all over the country. The Punjab government called in the army and passed Section 144, which banned all kinds of meetings, sit-ins, and protests.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) shut down mobile internet services and stopped people from using social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

So, Punjab’s education officials put off tests and closed all schools, colleges, and universities.

The British Council also canceled all Cambridge International, Pearson, University of London, ACCA, and IELTS tests in Pakistan.

Since the PTI leader released, the situation has become a bit more stable.
