Yasmin Rashid

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Punjab President and former Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been arrested by Lahore police, even though the Lahore High Court decided to stop the detention of 17 women, including her.

Dr. Rashid’s arrest is part of the government’s ongoing crackdown on the PTI. He is being held on charges of riots that happened during national protests after the arrest of PTI leader Imran Khan on May 9.

Police officials say that Dr. Rashid was taken into custody at Services Hospital because she was wanted by the police in three cases.

The cases against her have been filed at the Sarwar Road, Gulberg, and Shadman police stations. They include parts about terrorism and other serious charges.

Rashid was taken to the hospital because her health was getting worse, which is worth noting. The Model Town office sent people to take her into custody. Due to the fact that Dr. Rashid is sick, the police have chosen to hold her at the hospital.

17 women

The high court had said that the 17 women, including Dr. Rashid, should be let out of the Kot Lakhpat jail.

Advocate Muhammed Rashid told the reporters outside the jail that he had gotten a release order from the high court for his female colleague. But despite the judge’s order, all of the women were caught again soon after they were let go.

Rashid was taken to the hospital because her health was getting worse. Sources at the party say that she is having trouble breathing.

The leader of the PTI was arrested on May 12 under section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law. This was because the police crackdown on party leaders didn’t seem to be slowing down, and there were raids in Islamabad and Lahore because party followers were getting more violent.

Rashid was charged with a number of crimes, one of which was an attack on the home of the Lahore Corps Commander.

‘Immediate release’

The PTI has asked for the immediate release of other top members who are still in jail.

“Our leaders and peaceful Pakistanis are still in jail, and we want them all out right away!” PTI sent tweets.

Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhary, Ejaz Chaudhary, Ali Mohammad Khan, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, and Omar Sarfaraz Cheema are among the leaders who are still in jail.

Section 3 of the MPO was used to arrest all of these figures.
