Webdesk: On Tuesday, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Aun Chaudhry denied media reports that he unsuccessfully intervened with the police on behalf of Khadija Shah, the “prime suspect” in the May 9 attack on Corps Commander House (Jinnah House) in Lahore Cantt.

Chaudhry denied media claims that he had helped Shah, the granddaughter of a former army chief, by visiting Jahangir Khan Tareen’s daughter’s house.

Moreover, Punjab police arrested hundreds of PTI activists after the May 9 riots for attacking defence installations.

Shah defies the army’s “no mercy” orders by evading arrest.

Jehanzeb Amin arrested, but Shah remains at large. Former finance minister Salman Shah detained and released.

According to media accounts, the police raided a Gulberg flat on a tip from Jehanzeb, but Shah escaped minutes before they arrived. CCTV footage showed her departing the subterranean parking lot.

Mehar Tareen, daughter of Jehangir Tareen, and her husband, Umar Sheikh, own the flat where she was hiding. The couple helped Shah during the raid but failed.

“May 9 incidents should punished,” he added.

Other important people have been sought to help Shah, outside the Tareen family.

Chaudhry Shujaat Husain witnessed Shah’s nikah. Read the report when he learned the army had a zero-tolerance policy for offenders and treats everyone equally.

Sirmed Amin, Shah’s father-in-law and Shehbaz’s old buddy, met with him several times, including on Monday. The prime minister could only order the police to follow the law, therefore his efforts were futile.

According to a reputable police official, the army has stated that all criminals will be punished. Army Chief Gen Asim Munir recently visited Lahore and praised the police, promising no tolerance to the perpetrators.

Khadija, a US citizen, has recorded multiple audio messages claiming she was only outside the corps commander’s residence and did not ransack it.
