Backdoor Talks Begin in Muscat: Can Iran and the US Reach Common Ground?

Indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States have begun in Muscat, Oman, focusing on easing nuclear tensions, prisoner exchange, and potential sanctions relief.

The Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is in Oman to engage with the U.S. side through mediators. Prior to the talks, Araghchi stated in a televised message, “If both sides aim for a fair and equal agreement, progress is possible.”

He also praised Oman’s longstanding ties with Iran and its responsible diplomatic role in the region.
