Toronto (International Desk) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed regret over the deterioration of Canada’s friendship with the United States.
During his election campaign, Carney recalled that after the 9/11 attacks, Canada provided refuge to thousands of stranded American airline passengers, with the town of Gander—home to just 10,000 residents—accommodating 6,600 American travelers.
He further stated that Canada lost 158 citizens in the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan. Now, he emphasized, it is time for Canadians to carve out their own path.
Carney also criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that his attacks on Canada’s sovereignty have left many feeling deceived.
