Webdesk: China came up with a third list of names for 11 places in India’s Arunachal Pradesh. Which it called “Zangnan, the southern part of Tibet”. As per Indian authorities, It is in an effort to make its claim over the area more clear.
China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs put out the standardized names in Chinese, Tibetan, and Pinyin characters. This was done because the State Council, China’s cabinet, had rules about geographical names.
On the list are the exact coordinates for two land areas. As well as two residential areas, five mountain peaks & two rivers. It also includes the administrative districts that are in charge of them.
This is the third set of standardised geographical names for Arunachal Pradesh from China’s civil affairs ministry. The first set of six places was announced in 2017. Afterward, the second set of 15 places was announced in 2021.
China wants to change the names of places in Arunachal Pradesh. India has already said that this is not a problem because Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will always be a part of India, and giving places new names doesn’t change this.
Chinese experts were quoted in the Global Times as saying that announcing the names is a legal step and that China has the right to standardize geographical names. At the same time, a spokesperson for India’s external affairs ministry stressed that giving places in Arunachal Pradesh made-up names doesn’t change the fact that the state is a part of India.
