DERBY: Pakistan cricket team Director Mickey Arthur lauded Zaman Khan’s bowling in the T20 Vitality Blast’s opening game.
Derbyshire Falcons head coach Arthur praised the bowler after their first loss against Lancashire Lightning.
Arthur added the Pakistani pacer to Derbyshire’s Falcons Blast team.
The spinner joined Derbyshire on Thursday and had one training session at Incora County field, Derbyshire’s home field, before Saturday’s T20 Blast opener against Lancashire at Edgbaston.
Zaman struggled in his first two overs but recovered late in the match. Lancashire’s Luke Wells smashed a six over midwicket on the Pakistani pacer’s first ball. His first over yielded 18 runs with two boundaries and a wide.
The bowler’s second over brought 13 runs, but Derbyshire skipper Leus du Plooy caught George Bell at mid-on for his first English wicket.
Arthur believed the right-arm bowler, who throws yorkers at 90 mph, would progress during the competition.
He’ll improve. He’s qualified.””He balls an incredible fast yorker, good bouncer, and very good slower ball, and those are the skills we need,” Arthur said.
After allowing 31 runs in his first two overs, Zaman recovered well. His last two overs were Yorkers, bouncers, and slower deliveries. The spinner bowled Colin de Grandhomme with a slower ball for his second wicket.
“He suits us. Someone has to bowl two power play and two depth overs. He excels at that.”We’re lucky to have him,” Arthur added.

Zaman, a lowly Azad Jammu Kashmir native, has shown talent recently. Lahore Qalandars won PSL with 15 wickets from 13 matches.
His death overs bowling earned him a Pakistan national team spot this year. He debuted in March’s three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
He will improve since this is his first time in England under these conditions. Arthur believed “Just another week and he’ll be good to go on Friday night.”
Derbyshire Falcons meet Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge Nottingham in the East Midlands Derby on Friday, May 26. Zaman will play.
