In order to eliminate corruption from Punjab it is necessary to amend obsolete laws of anti-corruption so that the performance of anti-corruption department can be further improved. The approval of risk allowance for the government officials is part of these reforms.Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi expressed these views in connection with International Anti- Corruption Day being organised at Alhamra. DG Anti-Corruption Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, Adviser to CM Brigadier Retd Masadiq Abbasi, Adviser to CM On Home Affairs Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Syed Rafaqat Ali , Adviser Amir Saeed Rawn, Doctor Amjad Islam Amjad, officers of Anti- Corruption department and a great number of citizens were also present on the occasion.
DG Anti-Corruption Nadeem Sarwar apprised about one year performance report of the department and informed that 136 accused had been apprehended red-handed and 1085 accused had been sent to jails.914 cases were registered and 3860 inquiries were being held. He informed that open kutcheries have been held in all divisions including Head Office in order to improve performance of the department.
Prompt action is being taken after hearing complaints directly from the complainants. He further intimated that prosecutors have been deputed in all courts so as to plead anti-corruption cases so that Prosecutors can plead such cases in an effective and better manner. Nadeem Sarwar further apprised that the usage of IT technology would enable accountability of this department and complaints are also being registered through Help Line, WhatsApp and Report Corruption App. Through IT technology the monitoring of applications and data of complaints is also being formulated. Nadeem Sarwar further elaborated that reforms work is expeditiously ongoing in the department and elimination of corruption from government institutions will be ensured after completion of these reforms in the department.
