GB: Gilgit-Baltistan’s first female deputy speaker chosen without any opposition. This caused a lot of change in the government.
Sadia Danish, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a nominee of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), took the job after her party and the forward bloc of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) agreed to back her nomination.
The process of choosing the deputy speaker of the GB assembly ended on Monday, when Danish chosen without any opposition. Later, she took the oath of office, which given to her by Speaker Nazeer Advocate, who was in charge of the 22nd sitting of the assembly.
On the other hand, the PTI did not send in papers to run for the spot. They already gotten rid of its speaker by bringing a “no-confidence” vote against him. The deputy speaker of the GB assembly then made the new speaker of the GB assembly.
The speaker was in charge of the meeting of the assembly before the important event.
From 2009 to 2014, Danish was a member of the GB parliamentary assembly and a member of the GB cabinet.
She was also a minister of education, tourism, sports, and culture in the past. She was also a member of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) and the information secretary for the PPP.
The new GB CM, Gul Bar Khan
Gul Bar Khan, the leader of the PTI’s forward bloc, chosen as GB’s new chief minister last week, just days after the polls for the top job marred by controversy.
Khan got 19 of the 20 votes from the members of the house, and chosen without any competition. As three other people who wanted the job pulled their nomination papers.
Nawaz Khan Naji, an independent member, didn’t vote, while PPP and PML-N lawmakers backed the new chief minister.
All 11 members of the PTI’s “like-minded group” didn’t vote because they thought its rigged.
