In a bold statement, Victor Gao, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, warned the U.S. that China is fully prepared to engage in a prolonged trade war if necessary.
Speaking to a British news outlet, Gao declared:
“The world doesn’t end with America. China existed 5,000 years before, and it will survive another 5,000 without U.S. support.”
He emphasized that China will not tolerate any pressure tactics and will respond decisively if provoked. According to him, China is not reliant on the U.S. and is capable of standing strong on its own terms.
Tensions between China and the United States have been steadily rising, with both sides imposing tariffs and restrictions on each other in an ongoing trade standoff.
