Webdesk: King Charles is trying to find a way to keep old customs alive while also putting his plans for a modern monarchy into action.
Paul Burrell, a former royal butler, said that unlike his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the king has been going on more walks and having more chances to talk to regular people.
Burrell told Spin Genie, “I think that concert did herald a new era with all the younger royals dancing and waving their flags.”
Charles seemed happy at the Coronation concert, which was held a day after the crowning.
He said of the king’s appearance at the event, “I think you can see it becoming more in tune with everyday people on the street. That’s where Charles is going.”
“All the royals go on walkabouts, like when the King stops his car on the Mall and gets out to talk to people. This is all to make them more well-known and less far away.”
Burrell said, “Many people didn’t know much about the late Queen because she was a distant figure, and unless you were in the inner circle like me and knew what a kind, Christian lady she was, that never came across.”
King Charles, who has always cared a lot about the environment, wanted to reduce the size of the royal family to help the crown save money. In order to make the policies work, he has since taken steps to stop helping cousins who are not working members of the royal family with their rent.
