Peshawar: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee stated that the Ramadan moon has been spotted. Thursday will mark the beginning of the holy month (tomorrow).

Wednesday evening in Peshawar, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad delivered the announcement at a press conference.

The declaration made many hours after the session began at 5 p.m. in Peshawar. While the moon was not visible in Peshawar owing to hazy conditions. It was visible in various other regions of the country.

Maulana Azad stated at the news conference that the committee has received reports of moon sightings. Reports came from a number of locations in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Swabi, Qila Saifullah, and Mardan.

Saudi Arabia and the majority of Gulf states will begin the fasting month on Thursday (tomorrow).

India and Bangladesh, meanwhile, did not observe the Ramadan moon.

It is important to note that after a number of years, all Pakistanis will observe Roza on the same day. Whereas formerly Peshawaris would observe the fast a day before the rest of the country.

During the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s Zonal meeting in Karachi, PMD representatives stated that the moon seen at around 7:28 p.m. today.

Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Religious Affairs told The News that in addition to holding meetings of the committee in all provinces on a rotating basis, the reason for holding the meeting this time in Peshawar was to create consensus regarding the sighting of the Ramadan crescent on the same day.

In addition to receiving requests for evidence, he stated that the committee would invite members of the private Ruet committees to record their remarks. The committee would also cross-examine witnesses who recorded their testimony to confirm the same.
