Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar, has said that Pakistan will respond to US-imposed tariffs through negotiations, not retaliatory tariffs.
Speaking at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, he stated the government is working to lower energy tariffs, markup rates, and corporate taxes. “I understand how President Trump operates — he enters negotiations from a position of strength. We must do the same,” he said.
He urged industrialists not to shut down factories, stressing that inflation and electricity prices have decreased, and a comprehensive industrial policy is in the works.
