Webdesk: Hema Malini disagrees with the idea that OTT platforms have changed the way women speak and given them better roles and chances.
During an interview with Mid-Day, the star of “Sholay” said that Amitabh Bachchan gets roles “written especially for him.” He added, “If a role is written with me in mind, that would be nice.”
The actor went on to say, “Where are the chances right now? Even now, author-backed roles are not given to actresses. Instead, they are given to men. Even now, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan gets to play such great parts that they are written just for him. But until now, actresses haven’t been given such unique parts.
If someone could write me a role with me in mind, that would be great. I think I can do well too.”
She went on, “I can’t wait to try out different types of roles, from the dramatic to the unusual. For me to say yes right away, the role has to be great, but no one has given me anything like that yet. As an artist, I’d always want to work on interesting things. I’ll never say no to acting, because it’s what I love to do.”
Hema’s first role was in the Tamil movie Idhu Sathiyam, which came out in 1963. She was last seen in Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh’s 2020 movie Shimla Mirchi.
