Islamabad: Pakistani feature film “Mokhlani: The Last Mohanas” has achieved a historic milestone by winning the prestigious Jackson Wild Media Award 2025, one of the most respected honors in global filmmaking.
Directed by Jawad Sharif, the film highlights the struggle of the Mohanas, a traditional fishing community living around Manchar Lake, against the backdrop of Pakistan’s climate crisis. It beautifully blends environmental awareness with human and cultural storytelling.
In an emotional social media post, Jawad Sharif said, “History has been made — Mokhlani is the first Pakistani feature film to win the Jackson Wild Media Award. This is a proud moment for Pakistan.”
According to international reports, the film was selected from over 500 global entries for its powerful message, cinematography, and contribution to climate awareness.
