The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing serious allegations of financial misconduct involving the illegal awarding of live streaming and sponsorship contracts worth tens of millions of rupees. The revelations came during a session of the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) sub-committee, chaired by Malik Aamir Dogar.
During the session, all seven audit paras related to the PCB were consolidated for review. Among the key findings was the non-transparent awarding of contracts worth Rs 61 million for graphic interface and truck branding.
Furthermore, it was disclosed that sponsorship rights valued at Rs 338 million were granted in violation of procurement rules, prompting strong objections from audit officials.
Cabinet Division Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal confirmed the audit findings and warned that if responsible individuals are not identified within the specified time, all audit paras will be handed over to the FIA for formal investigation. He noted that the same individual appears to be involved in all seven cases, indicating a possible pattern of corruption.
The PCB’s Chief Financial Officer denied all corruption allegations.
The sub-committee directed the Cabinet Division to verify all seven audit paras with the audit authorities within 60 days and also requested the official list of PCB board members for further scrutiny.Ask ChatGPT
