U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that a final decision from Hamas regarding a ceasefire with Israel is expected within 24 hours. He referred to the current U.S. proposal as the “final offer” and expressed hope that it could pave the way toward ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Speaking after meeting Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman at the White House, Trump revealed that regional consultations—including with Riyadh—were held to expand the Abraham Accords, originally initiated during his previous term to normalize ties between Israel and Gulf nations.
Trump claimed that Israel has already accepted a 60-day truce and is prepared for further negotiations during that period. When asked if Hamas has agreed, he replied, “We’ll see. Within 24 hours, it should be clear.”
Sources close to Hamas indicated they are seeking guarantees that any ceasefire would eventually lead to a complete end to Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains dire. Since October 7, 2023, over 56,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Widespread displacement, food shortages, and lack of medical care continue to plague the region.
Legal actions have been initiated against Israel in international courts for alleged war crimes and genocide, charges which Israel strongly denies.
Meanwhile, Trump announced plans to send tariff-related letters to 10–12 countries in a bid to strengthen international trade ties. He added that more nations could soon join the Abraham Accords, particularly amid shifting alliances following recent damage to Iran from U.S. and Israeli military action.
