ISLAMABAD:
The PCB has formally written to PM for approval on three counts for Pakistan’s participation in the ODI World Cup in India in October.

The letter, which was also sent to the Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Interior. It seeks permission to play in India’s World Cup.

The PCB has also asked the government to review security at Pakistan’s five World Cup venues.

“The PCB has officially contacted the government to provide it guidance on its participation in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India”. A spokesperson stated when reached.

“Just after the World Cup schedule announcement, we wrote to our PM, through the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, sending the copy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior. Requesting clearance to participate in the World Cup,” he said.

The PCB’s June 27 letter requested government recommendations on venues.

The Pakistani government decides the process before informing us on the following stages. “If this requires sending an advance team to India to inspect the venues and meet with event organisers, then it will solely be the government’s decision,” the official added.
