Lahore: The Inspector General of Police for Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has taken swift action in response to the recent mob lynching of a man in Nankana Sahib. The IG suspended two senior police officers, the Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaz Waraq and the Warburton Station House Officer Feroz Bhatti, for their failure to prevent the tragedy.

Videos circulating on social media brought the incident to the attention of the IG and showed a violent mob outside a police station in Nankana Sahib. In the videos, the mob could be seen forcibly entering the station, leading to a chaotic scene with broken glass and overturned furniture.

The IG issued a statement saying, “No one is allowed to take the law into their hands no matter how influential they are.” The statement went on to say that strict departmental and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident and those who showed negligence.

In his statement, the IG emphasized that the rule of law must be upheld and that those who fail to uphold it will be held accountable.
