The move promotes Amazon’s ecology. Lula said COPs had largely discussed the Amazon, so he was excited to bring it there.

Countries meet annually at COP to explore climate change solutions. The UN said Dubai will host the 28th edition this year. Belém do Pará’s selection for COP30 underscores the need to address Amazon environmental issues.
