On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation at a ceremony in Lahore, where he laid the foundation stone for the Bab-i-Pakistan project and an upgrade to Walton Road. The Prime Minister spoke about the historical significance of the location, which is a reminder of the millions of people who migrated to Pakistan during the Partition period, and the difficulties they faced in doing so.

The Prime Minister then spoke about the winding journey of the Bab-i-Pakistan project, which has been ongoing since 1997. He recounted out allegations of corruption in the project, including the planned import of Rs900 million worth of white granite from Italy and the awarding of the contract to a contractor without bidding. The Prime Minister also expressed frustration that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has not looked into these allegations of corruption.

He then urged the nation to work hard to get through the current “difficult time,” stating that if everyone does their part, the country will see development and progress. The Prime Minister thanked the National Logistics Cell chairman and called on the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, to support the project. He also urged everyone to play their role in completing the project collectively, as it has been delayed for 20-25 years.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of working hard and staying hopeful in the face of challenges. He called on the nation to come together and work towards a better future for Pakistan.
