The claims also say that 188 women killed in the name of honour between January 1 and December 31, 2022. Out of the 345 people who might be responsible for these murders, 276 have been caught, but only 4 have been found guilty.

In 2022, there were a total of 7,397 cases of girls being kidnapped or taken by force, involving 12,156 people. There are 6,376 of them, but only 73 have been given punishments.

In the same way, 15,208 people were responsible for 8,963 rapes in the year 2022. Out of these, 7,097 have been caught, but only 13 have been sentenced by the courts.

There were 1,662 reports of violence against women, which led to the arrests of 3,101 people, but only 55 of them were given terms.

Out of 100 recorded cases of violence against girls, 255 people were arrested, but not a single one has been given a sentence.

In Punjab, there were 39 reports of women being burned alive. 55 suspects were caught, and one was given a sentence.

Two cases of forced marriages of women were reported to the Punjab Police. All four suspects were arrested, but none of them have been given a term yet.

Rape cases

There were 3,608 rapes reported in Punjab, and 5,206 people were responsible for them. There have been 3,344 arrests, and 22 people have been given punishments.

One out of every nine times that someone was harassed on social media, no sentence was given. In all, 20,400 people have been arrested for violence against women, but only 100 have been punished.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police said that in most cases, the victims don’t go to court or settle with the people who hurt them, which often makes the criminals feel better.
