Salman Akram Raja: Shah Mehmood Not in a Position to Lead PTI Amid Ongoing Cases

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Secretary General and renowned lawyer Salman Akram Raja has said that it is premature to assume Shah Mehmood Qureshi will lead the party anytime soon, as several serious cases are still pending against him.

Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, Raja clarified, “There are still five to six cases against Shah Mehmood. It’s too early to say he will take over the party leadership, especially since he isn’t being released yet.”

He further criticized the current political and judicial climate, stating, “We are all victims of fascism, and no one is exempt. The justice system no longer functions as a system of justice—it has become a system of suppression. This isn’t just PTI’s problem; it’s a crisis for the entire nation.”

Calling for national awareness and action, Raja added, “Nations do not remain silent in such conditions—they respond. Let’s see how the people of Pakistan respond to this injustice.”
